God being Almighty refers to him being THE one who was not created. All the might (power) that anyone has derives from us being created BY him, through his Son Jesus Christ. As for Adam and Eve, the issue comes down to appreciation for Jehovah's guidance, which they are demonstrated to have lacked. They obviously believed Satan OVER Jehovah. What had Satan done for Adam and Eve before this? Was Satan responsible for the wonderful paradise which Adam and Eve were in? No!

If god was Almighty than he would of known that Adam and Eve and....Satan... and demons....would sin before he even created anything.
by dutchstef ini posted this a before under an other topis, but i think it's a good question for a new topic!.
one of the things i never understout as a young kid was this:.
the question i had as a kid was: if god is almighty than he would of known that adam and eve and....satan... and demons....would sin before he even created anything.. my father who was an elder back then could never give me a good answer.... my dad would say something like because it's was necessary for god to show us and the angels, we can only have a good live if we live it like god wants .

The WT contradict the bible they quote in the very next sentence regarding "JWs"!
by Chalam inthis point has been made before but i think the very words the wt write which contradict the bible the quote make the point powerfully.. have a read for yourself http://www.watchtower.org/e/jt/index.htm.
jesus told his disciples: "you will receive power when the holy spirit arrives upon you, and you will be witnesses of me both in jerusalem and in all judea and samaria and to the most distant part of the earth.
"acts 1:8.. hence, some 6,000,000 persons today who are telling the good news of jehovah's kingdom by christ jesus in over 230 lands feel that they properly refer to themselves as jehovah's witnesses.. .

What does the term LORD refer to, if not YHWH (English, Jehovah)? Check the "Preface of the New International Version", and you'll see what I mean. It's in paragraph 15 in the August 1983 preface revision edition that I have.

Where does one draw the line on whether the origins of a practice make it acceptable?
by insearchoftruth inok, am very confused:.
honeymoons and wedding rings, based in paganism, ok for a jw to do.. windchimes, once prohibited due to the intent to ward off evil spirits, ok for a jw to have.. pinatas, once prohibited due to origin, now since folks do not associate the fun with a pinata, ok for a jw to do.. wedding anniversaries, not sure if they are formally addressed in the bible, ok for a jw to do.. birthdays, two bad examples in the bible plus some stories how originally celebrated by the wealthy (choose to ignore job 1 - job 3 when a persons special day is celebrated), not ok for a jw to do (have not been at a birthday party ever where someone was beheaded).
thanksgiving, actually a basis in the old testament for a celebration of the harvest, not ok for jws to do.

Each congo seems to have its own ever-changing culture (partly like the worldly culture its territory is in, and partly like the WTS study material and meeting comments). I see it as based on the spiritual strengths and weaknesses its members have, and the mix of "personalities" and "cultural backgrounds". This is much like what we can read of in the Bible. Here I'm thinking of examples as the various congo letters Paul wrote as well as the 7 different congos whom the resurrected Jesus spoke to in the Revelation.

Jesus.....God or God's son?

1) Where does it say that the Son should be worshipped and prayed to? I suggest that it ought NOT, based on the original languages.
2) What is the meaning of John 10:33, in the context of the verse which follows, which quotes from Psalm 82? This should help to know what the Bible refers to in using the term "god". I suggest that it refers to any representative of "God", as Moses was before Pharaoh.

1 Cor.13:8 mentions that some of the gifts would cease or be done away with, which does seem too bad for a least a few of us. Like, Oomps, I've got a back that gives me trouble too, but at least now we have the technology to have foam mattresses now and reclining chairs, which do help ease the pain/ discomfort. We have ended up with a trade-off, IMO.

yes, HB, the changes that happen with language over time and space are like that. We might remember Gay being used differently 20 and 30 years ago, compared to what it is these days. I'm sure that there are many others. Even the term "tithes", like "ancient worthies" sounds dated to me.
